Krasny Oktyabr chocolate factory

Krasny Oktyabr chocolate factory Review

Russian-made chocolates make a great, unexpected souvenir from Russia. Those from Moscow's Krasny Oktyabr (Red October) factory are the best. You can buy both individual candies, of various names—Krasnaya Shapochka (Little Red Riding Hood), Mishka Kosolapaya (Little Bear), and Melodiya (Melody)—and gift boxes. A nice box of Nadezhda (Hope) chocolates sells for just over 200R; a gift tin of Mishka Kosolapaya for about 350R. The chocolates are widely available in supermarkets and kiosks. The best assortment, including gift boxes and chocolate animal figures, is at the store next to the historic factory building.
