Iris's dismal views and distant location—in a bleak residential district on the northern outskirts of town, adjacent to the world-famous Fyodorov Eye Institute and about halfway between the city center and the airport—are unfortunate, because this is a fine French-run hotel with spacious, cheery rooms that have lots of closet space, large bathrooms, and balconies. Complimentary shuttle buses run hourly until 11 pm to two central stops. The hotel also provides free narrated English bus tours of the city and excursions to the popular weekend Izmailovsky flea market. Pros: large rooms; close to Sheremetyevo airport. Con: far from the city center.
