If you seek luxury and elite service, this 1903 hotel is the place for you. It's the city's most elegant accommodation, right across a plaza from Red Square and at the foot of Tverskaya ulitsa. Inside the stunning landmark art nouveau building are a great marble staircase, elevators topped by silvered twists of ivy, and a Viennese-style café. Most rooms are plush with polished-oak furniture upholstered in silk. Though a bit small, the modern white-tile bathrooms sparkle. For $800 a night you can stay in a two-room suite where Lenin lived for a time in 1918.
