Marco Polo Presnja Review

Opened in 1904 as a residence for English teachers and later the exclusive domain of the Communist Party, this hotel is an intriguing choice for those interested in the Soviet era. For instance, the auditorium was once the movie house where Party insiders came to see Western films unavailable to most Muscovites. The hotel is in a prestigious residential neighborhood near Patriarch's Pond, and many rooms have balconies overlooking the quiet green surroundings. In warm months, the inner courtyard is an attractive place to relax. Gray and light-blue walls make the small rooms a bit dark, but multicolor bedspreads add a homey touch.
