Kosmos Review

This huge, 26-story hotel built by the French for the 1980 Olympics is popular with tour groups, for good reason: it's one of the city's best bargains. Years of heavy tourist traffic have dulled the shine on the French-furnished interiors, but the rooms are adequate, clean, and some have been recently renovated. The spacious, two-story lobby is decorated with a sculpture strongly reminiscent of the molecule models typically found in a sixth-grade science class. The hotel stands across the street from the All-Russian Exhibition Center, a part of town that has interesting sights, but is far from downtown; however, the metro is right across the street. Pro: bargain prices. Con: Soviet-style service.
