$$$$, Tverskaya Ulitsa
Fodor's Review:
Catching up with the global obsession, Moscow finally got a boutique hotel in fall 2004. Cozy, stylish, quirky, and upmarket, Golden Apple indeed embodies the definition of boutique. Shiny metallic panels clash with bright, oddly shaped armchairs in the lobby bar. The enormous golden apple next to the front desk turns out to be a comfortable sofa on closer inspection. Each of the hotel's seven floors is painted different colors. In a reference to the Chekhov play, some rooms have huge propellerlike iron seagulls hanging from the ceiling. Though the hotel's building has some connection to the great playwright, the staff could not elaborate on it.
