The climate in Russia changes dramatically with the seasons. Moscow is best visited in late spring or early autumn, just before and after the peak tourist season. The weather is always unpredictable, but you are most apt to encounter pleasantly warm and sunny days in late May and late August. Summers tend to be hot, although thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are common in July and August.
In winter months, Moscow is covered in an attractive blanket of snow. But only the hardiest tourists should visit between late November and early February, when the days are short and dark and the weather is often bitterly cold.
