statue of Yaroslav the Wise Review
A statue of Yaroslav the Wise, unveiled in 1993 by Russian president Boris Yeltsin and Ukrainian president Leonid Kravchuk, stands not far from the monastery. Yaroslav is depicted holding a piece of the kremlin and staring off in the direction of Moscow. To see the statue, walk away from the river down ulitsa Nakhimsona toward the monastery.
