Air

TAP Air Portugal has several flights each day from Lisbon to Faro (45 minutes); Ryanair has regular service from Porto to Faro (90 minutes). All international and domestic airlines use Faro Airport, which is 6 km (4 miles) west of town. It's easy to find your way into Faro: after around 4 km (2½ miles), signs along the road from the airport direct you right into town.

Public buses run frequently between the airport and Faro city, with tickets costing about €2.30 per person. A taxi from the terminal building to the center of Faro costs around €10, slightly more on weekends. (There's also a small extra charge for baggage.) Ask the staff at the airport tourist office for a list of prices for rides to other destinations in the region. Always make sure that you agree on a price with the taxi driver before setting off.
