Armação de Pêra

Massively overdeveloped with high-rise apartment blocks (the majority of which stand empty for much of the year), Armação de Pêra is probably one of the Algarve’s least attractive towns. However, it is saved by its good restaurants, interesting seascapes, and affordable prices.Year-round, local boats can take you on two-hour cruises to caves and grottoes west along the shore, past the Praia Nossa Senhora da Rocha (Beach of Our Lady of the Rocks)—a strand named after the Romanesque chapel above it. To arrange tours, head to Praia Armação de Pêra—a wide sandy beach with a promenade—and speak with the fishermen directly.
