The Algarve Travel Guide

Albufeira

A long, bar-lined strip lined with enough neon lights to rival Las Vegas makes this a party-revelers paradise at night. During the day, you can split Albufeira in two: the old town and the newer part. The former has quaint cobblestone streets, traditional restaurants (though it does also have its share of touristy shops and fast-food joints), plus its own beach. The latter, up near the

strip, is completely geared towards European vacationers and retains no hint of the vintage Algarve, but fans of English breakfasts, Irish pubs, and karaoke bars love it.

Heading east out of Albufeira, you’ll come to a slightly quieter, more upmarket part of town (Praia da Falésia–Olhos De Agua), where beautiful beaches are fringed by brand-name hotels.
