Sintra Shopping

Sintra is a noted center for antiques, curios, and ceramics, although you'll need to choose carefully: prices are on the high side, and there's a fair amount of poor-quality goods. Keep an eye out for special in-store displays of hand-painted ceramics, many of them reproductions of 15th- to 18th-century designs, signed by the artists. Most stores in the historical center are open by 9 or 10 am,

close for lunch (1–2 pm), and reopen until 7 pm.
