Frequent trains and the N109 run past a string of quiet family beaches to Espinho, which has become an increasingly fashionable resort over the years. It has plenty of leisure facilities, including a casino, and a good selection of shops. The long, sandy beach is popular in summer, but you can find some space by walking through the pinewoods to less developed areas to the south.
