You'll find this restaurant on the rooftop of the designer hotel, The Vine, and the menu is as impressive as the city views—at night the city looks like a fairy-lit oasis sparkling below. The good-value prix-fixe menu includes a choice of three courses for €40 or four courses for €55. Divine dishes include caldeirada (Portuguese fish stew) in a sweet red pepper broth with fresh coriander, potato confit, and steamed leeks; veal cooked for 48 hours with organic sweet potato and chard; and desserts that include, in season, delicious local roasted cherries with yogurt sorbet and Santo da Serra Requeijao, a tangy Madeiran cheese. Don't miss the homemade breads or the fine wines, which include excellent Madeiran table wines.
