Calheta

Not so long ago this was a quiet village huddled around a 17th-century church, but Calheta has exploded in popularity because it has the island’s only white-sand beach. It's made with sand brought here from the mainland, but the crowds don't seem to mind. It’s a great place to relax for a day or two.
