Media in Lisbon

Many bookstores downtown carry at least a few English-language novels and guidebooks. Livraria Bertrand has a broader selection than most. The English-language selection at Livraria Buchholz far exceeds most vacation needs. CDs are downstairs, books upstairs, and classical music plays throughout. Livraria Britânica, across from the British Council, specializes in English-language books. For American and European newspapers, go to one of the several small newsstands at the bottom of Praça dos Restauradores or on the Rossío. The Fnac is a combination store of computer wares, music, and books. Its English-language section carries a good selection of best sellers.
