Fodor's Review:
Lisbon's main botanical garden was first laid out in 1874. Hidden between backstreets about 2 km (1 mi) north of the Bairro Alto, it makes a restful stop, with 10 acres of paths, benches, and nearly 15,000 species of subtropical plants; there's also a 19th-century meteorological observatory.
