Britânia Review

The Britânia is in one of the few 1940s buildings near Avenida da Liberdade to have survived progress unscathed. The onetime town house was the work of architect Cassiano Branco, and it originally housed studio apartments, hence the larger than usual rooms. But it's the art deco touches throughout that really impress—from the original marble panels in the baths to the "porthole" windows in the facade, the columns and candelabra in the lobby, and the murals in the bar. Staff members are really friendly.
