Fodor's Review:
Built in 1892, Lisbon's first luxury hotel is still a pretty penny. French architect Lucian Donnat breathed new life into the hotel when refitting it to its original romantic belle epoque style. Regal elegance combines with modern comfort here. Classically furnished rooms are completely soundproof, and bathrooms are lined in the finest Portuguese marble. Sumptuously furnished suites, fit for a king, are decorated in Louis XV, Louis XVI, D. Maria, D. José, and Empire styles. The Avenida Palace also has one of the finest locations in town.
