It's an interesting walk from the Casa dos Bicos, along Rua Terreiro do Trigo, and up some steps through the Travessa Terreiro do Trigo, one of Alfama's old side streets, to this restaurant. Black-and-white photos of famous artists, including a signed photo of pop singer Nelly Furtado, hang on the walls. The fried potato peels with mayonnaise as a dipping sauce are a surprising treat. They have a variety of appetizers such as carpaccio, mushrooms stuffed with Gorgonzola, or joaquinzinhos fritos (tiny fish fried in batter). Steak, fish, and duck dishes are accompanied by a baked potato with sour cream and steamed vegetables. During the Patron Saints of Lisbon festivities they set up tables outside under the grape arbor and grill sardines in the street.
