Bica do Sapato
Bica do Sapato Review
A favorite among fashionable locals, this riverfront restaurant is known for its stylish interior and furnishings: Knoll, Eero Saarien, and Mies van der Rohe all feature. It serves modern Portuguese fare and nouvelle cuisine. The changing menu might include braised cherne (grouper) on spinach with cornmeal and clams seasoned with cilantro, or shoulder of lamb cooked at ultra-low temperatures and served with roast tomato, yam, and cremoso de nabiças (turnip tops with cream). There are always a couple vegetarian entrées, too. Desserts include eggy Portuguese classics but also tarte de alfarroba (carob tart) and homemade ice creams and sorbets. From September through June, they also do Sunday brunch (€25). Upstairs, a sushi bar (dinner only) offers a range of classic Japanese and fusion dishes.
