Designed—and later franchised—by Holiday Inn, this gleaming six-story complex opposite Warsaw's Central Station avoids some of the standard chain-hotel impersonality. It's softly carpeted and furnished throughout in shades of gray and blue. A tree-filled, steel-and-glass conservatory fronts the building up to the third floor. The generously proportioned guest rooms have projecting bay windows that overlook the very center of the city.

I am used to chain hotels having small rooms and a rather impersonal atmosphere, but the Holiday Inn in Warsaw offered me a big room even though I was just one person. Service was great and the breakfast excellent. I highly recommend it.
