Åndalsnes

Åndalsnes is an industrial alpine village of 3,000 people that is best known for three things: its position as the last stop on the railway, making it a gateway to fjord country; the Trollstigveien (Troll Path); and the Trollveggen (Troll Wall). The tourist office has special maps and guides outlining the popular trails and paths. The tourist office can also make arrangements for you to join a fishing trip to the fjords. Trips last four hours, and leave three times a day; the cost is NKr 250. Six or seven species of mostly whitefish, such as cod, live in the waters.
