Several ferry lines connect Oslo with the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany. Color Line sails to Kiel, Germany, and to Hirtshals, Denmark; DFDS Scandinavian Seaways to Copenhagen via Helsingborg, Sweden; and Stena Line to Frederikshavn, Denmark.
A ferry to Hovedya and other islands in the harbor basin leaves from Aker Brygge (take Bus 60 from Jernbanetorget). These are great spots for picnics and short hikes. From April through September, ferries run between Rådhusbrygge 3, in front of City Hall, and Bygdy, the western peninsula, where many of Oslo's major museums are located. There is also ferry service from Aker Brygge to the town of Nesodden, as well as to popular summer beach towns along the fjord's coast, including Drbak.
