Chef and owner Eyvind Hellstrm has established an international reputation for his modern Norwegian cuisine and superb service. Bagatelle attracts the who's who of Oslo society, and is widely recognized as one of the city's best restaurants. Paintings by contemporary Norwegian artists accent the understated, elegant dining room. The three-, five-, and seven-course menus change daily. The lobster is always a standout.

We had read good reviews of this restaurant in several sources and came because of the seafood menu. After we were seated, our waiter informed us 1 of the courses in the seafood menu would be eliminated that night and the halibut and king crab courses were not available and other fish would be substituted. We then ordered wine. The wine that the waiter brought was a later vintage. When I asked him about it, he told me the later vintage was just as good as that which I had ordered. This is a very expensive restaurant and things like this should not happen. I would not eat here again.
