Just down the road from the elegant, pan-Asian Bambus, this popular, boisterous Indian restaurant is cozy and homely, with tiny tables that seem almost stacked on top of each other, and plates, glasses, and cutlery that rarely match. The menu holds few surprises, but the basic north-Indian fare, from rogan josh (Kashmiri lamb curry) to palak paneer (spinach-and-cheese curry), comes in generous portions, and is reasonably priced. That's probably why the clientele is generally more cheerful than the notoriously grumpy but efficient staff. The lamb curry and chicken tikka masala (marinated in a tomato, coconut milk, and curry sauce) are also delicious.
