Det Kongelige Slottet

Fodor's Review:

At one end of Karl Johans Gate, the vanilla-and cream-color neoclassical palace was completed in 1848. Although generally closed to the public, the palace is open for guided tours in summer at 2 and 2:20 PM. The rest of the time, you can simply admire it from the outside. An equestrian statue of Karl Johan, King of Sweden and Norway from 1818 to 1844, stands in the square in front of the palace.

  • Cost: Tour NKr 90
  • Open: Mid-June-mid-Aug. (guided tours only)
