Bergen Sights

Leprosy Museum Review

St. George's Hospital houses the Bergen Collection of the History of Medicine, which includes this museum. Although the current buildings date from the early 1700s, St. George's was a hospital for lepers for more than 500 years. This unusual museum profiles Norway's contribution to leprosy research. Many Norwegian doctors have been recognized for their efforts against leprosy, particularly Armauer Hansen, after whom "Hansen's disease" is named.
