Lepramuseet (The Leprosy Museum) Review

St. George's Hospital houses the Bergen Collection of the History of Medicine and its Leprosy Museum. St. George's was a hospital for lepers for more than 500 years. This unusual museum is now a memorial to thousands who suffered from the disease, as well as a testament to Norway's contribution to leprosy research. Many Norwegian doctors have been recognized for their efforts against leprosy, particularly Armauer Hansen, who discovered the leprosy bacteria, and after whom "Hansen's disease" (leprosy) is named.
