Domkirke (Bergen Cathedral)

Domkirke (Bergen Cathedral) Review

The cathedral's long, turbulent history has shaped the eclectic architecture of the current structure. The Gothic-style choir and the lower towers are the oldest, dating from the 13th century. Note the cannonball lodged in the tower wall—it dates from a battle between English and Dutch ships in Bergen harbor in 1665. From June through August, a Sunday service is held in English at 9:30 am in the Chapter House, an organ recital is held Thursday at noon, and there is a concert in the church every Sunday at 7:30 pm. September through May the Sunday concerts are held at 6 pm.
