Here's a rare chance to experience what it was like to live in a gracious mansion on the Herengracht in the 18th century. In 1895, widow Sandrina Louisa Willet-Holthuysen bequeathed this house to the city, along with all of its contents. It was actually built in 1687 but has been renovated several times and is now under the management of the Amsterdam Museum. Take an hour or so to discover its interiors and artwork, including a sumptuous ballroom and a rarities cabinet. Complete the Dutch luxury experience by lounging in the French-style garden in the back.
