Fodor's Expert Review Waterloopleinmarkt
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
This open-air market is a descendant of the Jewish pushcart trade that gave this part of the city its distinct lively character in the early part of the 20th century. It's amusing to see the old telephones, tea sets, gas masks, and other arcana all haphazardly displayed—as well as the shoppers scrambling to acquire such items. There's plenty of secondhand clothing and accessories for bargain hunters. New fashions include a wide selection of slogan T-shirts, floral dresses, and jewelry for every type of piercing. The flea market is open Monday–Saturday 9–6.
