Though thousands of buildings in Amsterdam are designated historic monuments, few have their interiors landmarked as well. This one is, and for good reason: it's an Art Deco display of arched ceilings, stained glass, leaded-glass lamps, wall paintings, and a huge antique reading table. (Mata Hari had her wedding reception here.) Though the food is less notable than the decor (the menu offers everything from light snacks to full dinners), the coffee and cakes are always excellent.
