This franchise of superstar chef Jamie Oliver's London original has the same modus operandi: it trains disadvantaged young adults as team players in the kitchen of a restaurant that donates the proceeds to charity. This location—slightly out of the way in the up-and-coming Oosterdok neighborhood but still on the waterfront—has enjoyed a remarkably consistent success due to the high quality of the food and the experience. While the kids learn under the tutelage of well-established chefs, diners indulge in such sophisticated mains as ravioli with goat cheese, sundried tomato, and walnut-butter sauce and turbot with roasted red cabbage, cream of celeriac, and anchovy butter.
