¢-$, Mediterranean, Leidseplein
Fodor's Review:
Downstairs at "The Cow," the cooks crowded into the tiny kitchen manage to pump out wonderfully prepared dishes. Despite the restaurant's name, the ever-changing menu tends to favor less beef and more fish and ostrich (made with truffle sauce). The crowd here is largely local, casual, and friendly: you won't see any yuppies here. Upstairs from the café is an equally earthy and popular bar.
