In a prim and proper 19th-century-style villa on the southern border of the Vondelpark, this hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere. The views of the park and a small lake, and an interior tastefully furnished with antiques, oil paintings, and chandeliers provide a special homelike environment that is rare in Amsterdam. Rooms are bright and spacious, and some have balconies. Set near the area of the park far from the museum quarter and its shops, slightly outside the city center in a chic residential area, the hotel is, nevertheless, convenient to tram lines and lends itself to a lovely stroll through the park from the heart of Amsterdam. Pros: peaceful atmosphere, cozy interior, views of the Vondelpark. Cons: out-of-the-way location, staff can be hard to find.
