$$-$$$, The Pijp
Fodor's Review:
This bulky modern hotel looms over a tree-lined street in Oud Zuid (Old South), Amsterdam's poshest neighborhood. The hotel underwent a dramatic top-to-toe face-lift in 2006, giving the whole place a bright and cheery atmosphere. Bathrooms have robes and slippers, and a trouser press in every room. The hotel is most often noted for its top restaurant, the Mangerie De Kersentuin (The Cherry Orchard). Although the property lacks any sort of historic allure, you can find plenty of that within walking distance: the Vondelpark, Concertgebouw, and the elegant shops in the Apollolaan are just short strolls away. Pros: refurbished rooms, excellent restaurant. Cons: mostly business clientele, rooms near lobby can be noisy.
