With its arty but calming leather-walled interior, Plancius offers a refreshing sense of space after the chaos of the Artis zoo or the cramped exhibits at the Resistance Museum. After breakfast and lunch service, things get kicked up a notch in the evenings, when a fashionable and convivial crowd comes to hobnob. The superb menu (don't miss their blackboard daily specials) is adventurous, mixing and matching everything from Italian panzarotti (a folded-over pizza of sorts) to Indian lentil soup to fish steaks with teriyaki and tahini sauce. Everything is made from scratch, right down to the tapenade.
