With a helpful and courteous staff and basic, light, and simply modern rooms tucked into a lovely red-brick, mansard-roofed house, this is the kind of place that reinforces the image of the Dutch as being nice and orderly. A large family room with lots of stained glass and a sitting area in a bay window faces the garden, as does the breakfast room. Quiet as the surroundings are, the street of extraordinary 19th-century houses is just steps away from the Leidseplein (but, for that matter, also from the Vondelpark).
