Fodor's Review:

This grand complex in a former 19th-century orphanage consists of the hotel, a restaurant, and a dance club (complete with frescoed walls that reflect its former function as a clandestine church). For those who like spare minimal style the hotel is strikingly austere. The lobby is minimalist black with an impressive cast-iron staircase leading up to the rooms. The hotel uses the hottest young Dutch architects and designers in the hotel's continual evolution. Rooms – some of which are split-level to form a lounge area – are furnished with modernist furniture by Gispen, Eames, and Martin Visser. Pros: fun atmosphere, stylish decor, good range of bar. Cons: no-frills room, out-of-the-way location.

  • In-hotel: 2 restaurants, bars, laundry service, Internet terminal, public Wi-Fi, parking (paid), no-smoking rooms.
