Fodor's Review

With its milk-white walls, dramatic black-and-white floors, Delft plates, fireplace hearths, and old chandeliers, this stately restaurant conjures the canvases of the eponymous painter. The posh vibe, however, suggests that no milkmaid will be able to afford a meal here. The way chef Christopher Naylor combines tastes, textures, and temperatures is masterful, be it in the turbot with roasted black garlic, salsify satay, and smoked carrot sauce, or lamb with nettles, chicory, and pistachio. You can order à la carte or splurge on either the seven-course (€110) or the four-course (€90) tasting menu. An army of waitstaff are on hand to ensure that the service is always impeccable. Each year the restaurant closes for one month while the owners go on vacation (the actual dates change from year to year).
