Set on the edge of the Jordaan, this restaurant is blessed with Art Nouveau detailing and wallpaper that is so darkly evocative of fin-de-siècle living it may inspire a thirst for absinthe and symbolist poetry. But the views of the Herengracht Canal and the attentive and friendly service create a romantic setting in which to settle down and enjoy the French and Italian–inspired menu. In the winter, hearty game dishes (such as venison with a red wine and shallot sauce) are featured; in summer, lighter fare is offered, and the seating spills out into the street.

The setting can only improve by the time od day or the weather, but the food is consistent and the waiting staff makes you enjoy the time you spend in this long standing Amsterdam eatery.

This restaurant needs to have less tables as it is quite congested and eating here seems to be a rush.
