Fodor's Review

Inside the regal Hotel de l'Europe, this playfully modern French restaurant is elegant without being stuffy. Of course, the ingredients are top-notch, but what really sets the cooking apart are the inventive preparations, such as langoustine in its own broth with coffee bean and shaved duck liver or saddle of lamb served with fermented olives and strawberries. Don't miss the stunning desserts, such as the large gold-flecked chocolate balloon that melts down to reveal a scoop of kaffir lime ice cream inside. To avoid breaking the bank, opt for one of their lunch tasting menus, which start at €48 for three courses (five-course dinner tasting menus start at €108). For a view to match the meal, ask for a table overlooking the Amstel River.
