Fodor's Review

A bit off the beaten track but conveniently close to Vondelpark, Abyssinia specializes in Ethiopian and Eritrean meals eaten with the spongy sourdough bread injera. The spicy meat, vegetarian, and fish dishes have been influenced by the region's geographical position between Asia, Africa, and the Arabic world. The restaurant is decorated with rattan couches, which are the perfect perch from which to drink African beer from a calabash shell or indulge in a traditional coffee ceremony, held Monday and Tuesday at 7 pm.
