Fodor's Expert Review Aman Sveti Stefan

Budva, N/A Montenegro, 85315, Montenegro Fodor's Choice

Connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, the glamorous Aman Sveti Stefan is a small village of cobblestone lanes, quaint courtyards, and hand-restored medieval stone cottages with terra-cotta tile roofs, all within 15th-century defensive walls. The largest of the Aman complexes, Sveti Stefan has 50 rooms, cottages, and suites on the island, each one uniquely styled, with exposed medieval brick walls and original details left intact. Private and public spaces are decorated with elegant, contemporary furnishings, and there’s a pool with a wooden deck, five spa cottages offering massage and beauty treatments, and a gym, as well as a restaurant, bar, and antipasti bar. The restaurants are open to nonguests. Across the causeway but on the same complex is the Villa Miločer, a Montenegrin royal summer residence in the 1930s. These suites have period details like parquet floors, stunning stone-floor bathrooms with free-standing bathtubs, and the panoramic views of Sveti Stefan island, as well as a private beach. The Aman Spa is in a sleek building set among the pine trees on the mainland, close to the Villa Miločer. The Aman Sveti Stefan has boat access and offers free transfers to and from Tivat Airport.
