Commonly called "Bar Rosso" for its bright-red exterior, Il Caffè has far more tables outside than inside. A favorite with students and faculty from the nearby university, it's a good place to enjoy a spritz—the preferred Venetian aperitif of white wine, Campari or Aperol, soda water, an olive, and a slice of orange. It has excellent tramezzini (among the best in town) and panini, and a hip, helpful staff. Its closing time depends on the always-changing noise laws, but typically around midnight. It's been recently frequented by high school students from the mainland on week end nights. It's more enjoyable around lunch time, or in the early evening.
