Palazzo Stern Review

An opulent refurbishment of this neo-Gothic palazzo, carried out by the Stern family in the early 20th century, incorporated marble-columned arches, terrazzo floors, frescoed ceilings, mosaics, and a majestic carved staircase (copied from the Ca' d'Oro), but the gracious terrace that overlooks the Grand Canal is almost reason alone to stay here. Some rooms have tufted walls, parquet flooring, and 42-inch, flat-screen TVs. From the rooftop terrace—which has a Jacuzzi—you get a classic Venetian view: over the city's roofs to the Campanile and even to the Dolomites on a clear day.

    Can't Imagine Staying Anyplace Else!

From the moment we arrived we were so happy we had booked Palazzo Stern...the location is wonderful, out of the way of the hordes of tourists but right on the vaporetto route...wonderful neighborhoods behind to explore, eat in, etc. Our room was right in front of the hotel overlooking the canal...the view was spectacular and the room was beautifully appointed right down to the huge, elevated jacuzzi tub. We had a table and chairs to sip our prosecco in with the windows open to the canal. We felt like Venetian royalty in the mornings having our breakfast on the patio right on the canal...couldn't recommend it higher!
