It's easy to overlook (and can be a challenge to find) this secluded palazzo, sheltered behind a brick wall not far from the Frari church. Especially in high season, the six-room hotel with a pleasant, expansive garden is an oasis of peace. The prevalent white-and-pastel color scheme and elegant, understated decor contribute to the relaxed environment. The house was once the residence of Alma Mahler, widow of composer Gustav Mahler and a fascinating woman in her own right; it still conveys her style and charm today. Service and professional attention is as conscientious as the renovation. Pro: A peaceful, gracious setting. Con: No Grand Canal views.
