This ultramodern boutique hotel abandons all things traditionally Venetian, opting instead to create the air of a stylish residence. With impeccable, minimalist decor, Charming House has a contemporary, warmly romantic, and occasionally even dramatic atmosphere. Some rooms overlook small canals and side calli; apartment options with kitchenettes are available for families or small groups. The location is convenient to the Guggenheim, Accademia, Zattere, and San Marco. There are also art exhibits borrowed from neighboring museums on display in common areas. See their Web site for additional locations and apartments with similar ambience located in Castello. Pros: Unique decor, variety of lodging options. Con: Not for those who prefer more traditional Venetian style.
