Formerly the residence of the Contarinis, one of the most powerful families of Venice, this late-14th-century palace has been a hotel since 2001. The building's aristocratic past shows in the elegant inner courtyard with a majestic marble staircase. All differently furnished, the spacious, light-filled rooms have high wood-beamed ceilings, while the apartments include a kitchen, dining room, and open mezzanine. The large Torcello Suite also has a wooden roof terrace from which you can take in a spectacular view of the city. On the piano nobile (main floor) is a large, well-appointed hall overlooking the garden; private dinners, meetings, and small conferences are sometimes held here. In sunny weather breakfast is served in the small garden. The hotel has an elevator and a private dock for boats.
