Quick Bites, Dorsoduro
Fodor's Review:
Pasticceria Tonolo has been fattening Venetians since 1886. Tonolo truly is a Venetian landmark, almost as much as Piazza San Marco. During Carnevale, it's still the best place in town for fritelle, fried doughnuts (traditional raisin or cream-filled); during acqua alta, the staff dons rubber boots and keeps working. The cakes, pastries and coffee make it a favorite among Venetians of all ages and when they are invited over for dinner, rest assured that a tray of Tonolo's treats will be in hand. The place is closed on Monday, and there's no seating anytime.
